Imagine coming home from work with your arms full of groceries. Both you and the kids are tired and need to relax after a long day.
You sigh with relief as you open the kitchen door and enjoy the sight of a spotless and clean floor. The cocoa stains from the children's breakfast and the dog hairs are gone, vacuumed and mopped by your new best friend – your robot vacuum with a mopping function.
Because if anything can make your home look dingy and dirty, it's floors with dried-in stains, crumbs, and dirt.
With a robot floor washer, you avoid both vacuuming and mopping your floor. This way, you can really make your floors look clean. That's why we also experience (and for good reason) that many customers are interested in a robot vacuum cleaner with a mopping function, but at the same time are unsure which one to choose and what to consider before buying one.

What is a robot floor washer?
A robot floor washer is a robot vacuum cleaner and floor washer in one small robot, making it much easier to maintain a clean and tidy floor – without the slightest effort. With the smart programming and scheduling functions available in the accompanying apps, the floor cleaning can even be done while you are at work.
It dissolves dirt and sticky stains – without risking damage to furniture and carpets. Something you should be aware of when considering investing in the best robot vacuum with a mopping function for your home is, among other things, the suction power. You can read more about what else to consider below.
Buy a robot vacuum cleaner with mopping function at Fnugfri
When you buy a robot floor washer at Fnugfri, it is your guarantee that you will receive competent guidance in choosing a model that suits your specific needs.
We know the different advantages and potential limitations of the various robot floor mops. We can guide you on whether a robot floor washer is actually the best solution for you.
At Fnugfri, we are proud vacuum cleaner experts, and we are very critical about which products get a place on our virtual shelves. When it comes to robot vacuums with mopping, it means we carry iRobot and Cecotec. They have developed some of the market's most user-friendly, high-tech, and reliable robot vacuums with floor washing capabilities.
The vast majority of robot vacuums in our selection on our website include a floor washing function. One of the things that differentiates them is how suitable and effective they are at removing pet hair. If you have pets, you should choose one where 'pet' is included in the product name. These usually have stronger suction power, ensuring they effectively pick up cat or dog hair.
And imagine a world where the pet fur on your floor actually disappears by itself. Without you having to lift a finger.
What functions does a robot with a washing function have?
An important and honest point to remember about robot vacuum cleaners with floor washing is that the washing function itself, in most models, is actually more of a floor wiping than a distinct floor washing.
Floor wiping vs. floor washing
All models and brands without a scrubbing function are, in principle, wiping robots that work somewhat like wiping your dining table with a damp cloth. This can work very well.
If, however, you expect a distinct floor wash with a scrubbing function, you should ensure you choose a robot floor washer that has a built-in scrubbing motor that can better clean floors and dried-in stains. Examples include the Cecotec Conga 9090 model.
Size (of the tank) actually matters
Our experience is that no matter which robot vacuum cleaner with a floor washing function you choose, you should primarily choose based on the vacuuming function itself and then based on the possibility of floor washing. This is because the vacuum cleaner part of the robot vacuum is still the main function.
If you still want to choose based on the floor washing function, you should make sure to go for a robot with an emptying function (and a slightly larger charging station) or with a 2-tank system. Otherwise, you risk the dust container being far too small for what an average Danish household needs – and you will definitely get tired of countless emptying.
Some of the other smart functions you get in the different robot vacuum cleaners with floor washing, and which you should take into consideration, are:
- laser or optical sensors that ensure it can avoid wetting obstacles such as bags, stuffed animals, carpets, and similar items that might be on the floor
- app control, where you can create schedules, room division, and much more
- room planning, so you can set it to vacuum and mop the floor in a specific room
- voice control, so you can ask it to vacuum and mop the floor in delimited areas
- magnetic tape for area delimitation
- automatic emptying station that supplies the robot with clean water.
Can you put soap in a robot vacuum cleaner with a mopping function?
Yes, you can. In a way, it makes sense that you need soap if you want your floor to be cleaned, but we understand that many people are unsure. The thing is that the floor washing function in most robot vacuum cleaners with a mopping function is merely a wiping function, and therefore soap may not always be beneficial.
As a general rule, however, we at Fnugfri.dk recommend that you only use water in your floor washing robot. Inside the floor washing robot, there are very small, thin hoses and nozzles connected to the water tank. These can easily get clogged if soap residue gets stuck. This is especially true if you accidentally put too much soap in or use a soap that foams a lot.
Therefore, always avoid soap that foams a lot.
If you want to use soap, you can, for example, use iRobot Braava Jet soap. It is specially developed for robot vacuum cleaners with a mopping function and is – in our opinion and experience – the absolute best soap for robot floor washers on the market. You can also buy a very low-foaming soap. We also have a few of those here at Fnugfri.dk.
Under no circumstances should you use various care soaps or other special treatments dedicated to the care and treatment of wooden floors.
