You know it: Your toilet might be the most bacteria-filled place in your home, and that's why it's important to keep it clean. Sometimes, small changes in your cleaning routine can make a big difference in the hygiene of your toilet. Perhaps you've even noticed that your toilet gets grimy over time – even if you scrub regularly. A common problem is dark or yellowish stains in the bowl, which can be really difficult to get rid of once they appear.
In this blog post, we've gathered a lot of great tips, tricks, and advice to keep your toilet looking good and clean for longer.
Clean the toilet daily – here's how
As you know, bacteria cannot be seen. But the truth is, you get rid of a lot of "waste" when you go to the toilet – and precisely because of this, it's important to maintain top hygiene here. We recommend cleaning often, and perhaps even making it part of your daily routine. In reality, it doesn't take much to keep your toilet clean and tidy.
Start by pouring a good toilet cleaner into the bowl. Remember to get the product all the way up under the rim and scrub a little with your toilet brush. While you let the toilet cleaner work, you can clean the rest of the toilet. Pour some all-purpose cleaner into a bucket of warm water and wipe down the toilet thoroughly with a cloth soaked in soapy water. Once you've done that, you can give the bowl a good scrub with the toilet brush to clean it thoroughly. Flush, and your toilet will be clean and tidy again.
At fnugfri.dk, you'll always find a large selection of effective all-purpose cleaners that can be used for most daily cleaning tasks in the home – including cleaning the toilet.
Get rid of dark rings
You know them. The dark rings. They are both unsightly and annoying to remove, and they destroy the clean feeling you want in the toilet. Fortunately, you can easily get rid of the rings if you follow our advice.
The rings simply come from ochre deposits in the limescale rings. This means you must first remove the limescale before the rest can disappear. You can do several things to remove limescale in your toilet:
-
Use limescale remover: Use limescale remover in gel and spray form, or try a limescale remover with a handle – an easy way to reach difficult areas in the bowl. The limescale remover needs time to work, so it's important to be patient.
- Use vinegar: Vinegar is quite effective against limescale. Place pieces of toilet paper or paper towel over the dark stains and soak the paper with vinegar. This way, the paper will "stick" to the areas you need to clean. Let it sit for a full day, then scrub with hot water and the toilet brush.
Find effective "cleaning products" at home in the kitchen
There are many tips and tricks with products not originally intended for cleaning toilets. In fact, you can find many effective remedies right in your kitchen. Cola, dishwasher tablets, and baking soda can all be used in your toilet cleaning, and now we'll tell you how to use them:
Cola not only tastes good but can also combat limescale in the toilet bowl. The clever thing about cola is that it contains citric acid, phosphoric acid, and carbonic acid, which are effective cleaning ingredients. You simply pour some cola into the bowl so the liquid hits the sides, and let it work for about an hour. Afterward, you can scrub with a toilet brush. Rinse thoroughly with water.
NOTE! Be careful with cola. It is an expensive solution that only works in some cases. Try it carefully, or choose the safer path with regular limescale remover.
Dishwasher tablets are brilliant in the dishwasher, but did you know they can also be used when cleaning your toilet? Take a dishwasher tablet from your kitchen drawer, unwrap it, and drop it into the toilet bowl. Pour a jug of boiling water over it so it fizzes up, and let it work for a few hours before flushing.
Baking soda can actually be used for many different cleaning tasks, such as cleaning the toilet. Mix 1-2 dl of baking soda with a little water and a few drops of dish soap to create a thick paste. Spread it in the toilet, let it work, and then flush. Baking soda is especially good for disinfecting the toilet bowl.
