Vacuum Cleaners – Find the Right One for Your Home
At Fnugfri, we have been selling vacuum cleaners for over 30 years and specialize in matching the right vacuum cleaner to the right home. We hand-pick all models for our range and only sell vacuum cleaners that we can vouch for – from renowned brands such as Nilfisk, Mova, iRobot, Bosch, Hoogo, Hoover, AEG, Numatic, Ghibli and more.
One important thing to remember: the vacuum cleaner that wins "best in test" is not necessarily the best for you. Vacuum cleaners are tested according to parameters that may not be relevant to your home and daily life. It's about finding the right match – not the most expensive or most talked about.
8 Types of Vacuum Cleaners – Which Suits What?
#1 Corded and Bagged Vacuum Cleaner The classic household vacuum cleaner with a cord and bag never goes out of style. It provides constant and stable suction power, is ideal for thorough weekly cleaning, and is particularly suitable for allergy sufferers, as dust is sealed in the bag. We stock a large selection from Nilfisk, Bosch, AEG, Hoover, Max 1, and Numatic Henry, among others.
#2 Robot Vacuum Cleaner The robot vacuum cleaner handles daily vacuuming for you – automatically, while you are at work or relaxing. Controlled via an app, it is much quieter than a traditional vacuum cleaner and requires almost no effort from your side. Mova, iRobot Roomba are our preferred brands.
#3 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner (Stick Vacuum) A battery-powered vacuum cleaner on a stick – ideal for quick daily clean-ups and perfect for families with children and pets. No cord, no hassle. Plug it in to charge after use, and it's always ready. We stock Nilfisk, Bosch, Hoogo, Mova, Hoover, and AEG.
#4 Handheld Vacuum Cleaner Small, light, and lightning-fast. Perfect for the car, sofa, stairs, and kitchen counter. Typically lasts 15–30 minutes on a charge – more than enough for quick daily tasks.
#5 Central Vacuum Cleaner Permanently installed in the house with outlets in each room. You simply pull out the hose, vacuum, and put it back. Efficient and convenient – but also a larger investment.
#6 Backpack Vacuum Cleaner The vacuum cleaner sits on your back – ideal for tight spaces, stairs, buses, and cinemas. Lightweight and ergonomic, and suitable for commercial use where many different places need to be vacuumed quickly.
#7 Industrial Vacuum Cleaner For workshops, production facilities, and businesses with high demands for suction power and capacity. Nilfisk and Ghibli are among the best in their class.
#8 Wet/Dry Vacuum Cleaner Can vacuum both dry dust and liquid – the big brother to the ordinary vacuum cleaner. Suitable for tradespeople, cleaning staff, and those with a workshop or garage. Nilfisk Aero and Ghibli Power WD are popular choices.
What to consider when buying a vacuum cleaner?
HEPA filter: Today, all vacuum cleaners should have a HEPA filter at a minimum. It retains 99.97% of dust particles and ensures that dust remains in the machine rather than being blown out into the air. Particularly important for allergy sufferers.
Motor size: EU regulations limit the motor to a maximum of 900 W. We recommend a minimum of 500–625 W for sufficient suction power for everyday use.
Bagged or bagless: Bagged is best for allergy sufferers and requires less frequent emptying. Bagless is cheaper to run and easier to manage, but needs to be emptied more often.
Size and type of home: A compact apartment does not require the same as a large house with carpets, pets, and children. Size, weight, and cord length are very important for daily life.
Price: Good household vacuum cleaners start from approx. 1,000–1,200 DKK. Buy something decent – cleaning should not be more difficult than necessary.
Frequently Asked Questions about Vacuum Cleaners (FAQ)
Which type of vacuum cleaner is best for my home? It depends on your home, lifestyle, and needs. If you live alone in an apartment with hard floors, a cordless stick vacuum or robot vacuum is often the best choice. If you have a large house with carpets, pets, and children, a combination of a traditional corded vacuum cleaner and a robot vacuum for daily maintenance may be the ideal solution.
What is the difference between a bagged and bagless vacuum cleaner? A bagged vacuum cleaner is best for allergy sufferers, as the dust is sealed. It typically has a larger capacity and needs to be emptied less often. A bagless vacuum cleaner is cheaper to run, easier to empty, and you can easily see when it's full – but suction power can decrease as the container fills up.
What does a HEPA filter mean, and do I need one? A HEPA filter retains 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns, including dust mites, pollen, and pet dander. We always recommend vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters – it's not just for allergy sufferers, but for anyone who wants clean air in their home.
What is the maximum motor size for a vacuum cleaner? According to EU ecodesign requirements, the maximum motor size is 900 W. Manufacturers have adapted and optimized airflow, so modern vacuum cleaners are at least as efficient as older ones – and typically quieter. We recommend a minimum of 500–625 W for sufficient suction power.
Can a robot vacuum cleaner replace a regular vacuum cleaner? For daily maintenance – yes, for many households. A good robot vacuum cleaner keeps floors clean on a daily basis, so you only need a traditional vacuum cleaner for more thorough weekly cleanings. If you have many carpets, dense furniture, or difficult corners, the two types complement each other well.
How much does a good vacuum cleaner cost? Prices vary greatly by type. A good robot vacuum cleaner starts from approx. 1,500 DKK, a cordless stick vacuum from approx. 1,500–2,000 DKK, and a classic corded vacuum cleaner from approx. 1,000–1,200 DKK for a decent quality model. We have vacuum cleaners in all price ranges and will help you find the right one for your budget.
Can I try the vacuum cleaner before I buy? Yes! Visit us in our physical stores in Holstebro or Herning, where you can see, feel, and try the vacuum cleaners. It's a great advantage – you can get a feel for the weight, the handle, and whether the hose is long enough for your liking.
Does Fnugfri have a workshop for vacuum cleaner repairs? Yes. We have our own workshop and offer free fault diagnosis on your vacuum cleaner – you only pay if we need to repair it. Book via our website or call us.
